Who supplies water in Caazapá, and is it reliable?

The Junta de Saneamiento de Caazapá runs the city's water system from eight wells. In September 2024 it was supplying water only in morning and evening windows after its Naranja Sapatu reservoir broke, and residents feared a hard summer (ABC Color). As a general precaution, plan a storage tank and pump for any new house.

Is the road between Caazapá and General Morínigo being fixed?

Contracts were awarded in December 2024 under MOPC tender LPN 87/2024 to pave the 37.93 km road in two lots, with drainage works (ABC Color). The road had been described as in very poor condition in October 2024. Current progress on the works was not confirmed.

Who approves building plans in Caazapá?

The Municipalidad de Caazapá. National law (Article 235 of Ley 3966/10) requires a prior municipal permit to build, extend, renovate or demolish. Ask at the municipality for its current requirements and fees before submitting plans.

Caazapá Today

Caazapá is the capital of Caazapá department, about 230 km from Asunción, with 23,654 residents in the 2022 census. It was founded in 1607 as a Franciscan reduction. La Nación (April 2026) quotes the agriculture minister naming Caazapá as an emerging soybean area, and Última Hora reported the opening of an oncology day hospital in Caazapá in May 2026.

Building in Caazapá: What to Know

Drinking water in the city comes from the Junta de Saneamiento de Caazapá, a local water board. In September 2024 the board ran eight wells feeding the network, with a 300,000 liter reservoir at Naranja Sapatu and a 120,000 liter elevated tank, and was supplying water only in morning and evening windows after the Naranja Sapatu reservoir broke and had to be emptied for repair; water was also delivered by tanker truck (ABC Color). The road to General Higinio Morínigo (37.93 km) was described as in very poor condition in October 2024, and the MOPC tender covering it includes asphalt paving and drainage with culverts and ditches (ABC Color).

Why Investors Build in Caazapá

Public works are the clearest signal: in December 2024 the MOPC awarded two lots, of about G. 73,399 million and G. 75,869 million, to pave the 37.93 km road between Caazapá and General Higinio Morínigo (ABC Color). The agriculture ministry's push on soybean productivity in the department (La Nación, April 2026) points to farmland as the main asset. No data on new residential projects in the city was found.
